Platov South-Russian State Polythechnic University is the oldest university in the south of Russia established in 1907. Provided with extensive infrastructure, material and technical resources, the university is rightfully considered as one of the biggest in the south of Russia. The university ranks among the best technical universities of the country. It is situated in a warm and hospitable city in the south of Russia – Novocherkassk which is founded more then 210 years ago. In Novocherkassk there are about 200 historical and architectural monuments open for students at any time of year. You can find in the city a lot of parks, museums, cafes, youth clubs and restaurants. Novocherkassk is a student city: every fifth people there is a student, most of them are studying in the biggest university of the south of Russia Platov South-Russian State Polythechnic University. 

At the moment more then 10 000 students from about 50 countries of the world study at the University. Highly qualified specialists of more then 100 engineering, technical and management specialties are trained at the following faculties: power engineering; electrical engineering; geology, mining, oil and gas; technology; civil engineering; agro-industry; mechanics; information technology and management; industrial engineering and innovation sciences; institute of fundamental engineering education. Students have the possibility to take bachelor degree, master degree, or enter a PhD program. Higher-education teaching personnel includes more then 1000 teachers, 80 % of  them are doctors hab. or full professors. The majority of professors conducts fundamental and applied research in a modern fully equipped university laboratory, design innovative technologies and adopt it in real industrial processes, involving students to these activities. Research activities in the University are conducted in 9 centers in the fields of nanotechnologies, power engineering, electrical engineering, transport systems and facilities, civil engineering, water supply systems, etc.

Students have a unique opportunity to participate in innovative inventions, to accomplish research studies and take part in implementation of government programs – 2 common use centers and 2 engineering centers are specially created for this. Along with students Russian and foreign science, education and business representatives are enlisted to work in these centers.

The fact that the University functionate in strategic collaboration with Russian and foreign higher educational establishments contributes to continuous growth of quality of higher education. Among strategic partners of the University there are not only famous Russian educational establishments, but also 29 foreign universities, including leading technical universities of Germany, China, Suisse, Italy, Great Britain and former Soviet states. The University is proactively involved in European programs as TEMPUS and Erasmus Mundus. 

During their studies in the university, all the students go through practical trainings in the leading Russian companies – partners of the university in different fields of production: mining, oil and gas engineering, power plant engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, finance and credit etc. The fact that the practical training in the companies is included in the study process increases the competitiveness of the university graduates since they posses not only theoretical knowledge but also the practical skills. More than 150 000 students have graduated from this hundred years old university and got prestigious jobs in Russia and abroad.  Specialized vocational guidance and employment centers take into account the needs of the regional labor market and support the career growth of graduates, providing over 80% of their employment in their specialty. All this is possible because the university has earned a high reputation among the biggest Russian and international companies, such as “Gazprom”, “Tupolev”, "Admiralteyskie Verfi", the Cosmonaut training center of Yuri Gagarin, Space Center "Yuzhny" (Baikonur Cosmodrome). Among the well-known graduates there are: Mikhail Mil – one of the founders of the Russian helicopter industry and creators of the world's best “Mi”- series helicopters; Mikhail Simonov – was one of the leading designers of the Su-27, one of the best and most efficient fighter aircrafts in the world that is widely used in the armament of many countries. All international students are given a comfortable accommodation in a students’ hostel located in the University campus. The University pays special attention to creating comfortable conditions for independent intellectual and research activity as well as to organizing interesting leisure activities for students. The University possesses the largest university library of the Southern Federal District of Russia, providing diverse types of publications for any type of research. Students can use both traditional book resources of the library and distance electronic resources. 

International students, along with the Russians, take an active part in numerous cultural and artistic festivals, contests, concerts, training in sports clubs and performing in the competitions, participate in various hobby clubs, work in the students’ association council and participate in many other events of student life. Excellent conditions have been created to play sports in the University as well as in the city. There is a swimming pool, a running hall, gyms and game halls (for mini football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, darts), tennis court, stadium and sports grounds, combat sports clubs and recreation center on Don river, located on the campus territory. All this can be used by all students of this University. So the students have excellent conditions both for study and sports as well as for cultural recreation.

Tuition, accommodation in a student hostel and insurance fees, stipulated in US dollars, are an approximate equivalent of tuition fees in Russian rubles. The actual tuition and accommodation fees may be slightly corrected due to the US dollars /Russian ruble exchange rate correlation on the International Monetary Exchange as on the date of the tuition, accommodation and insurance fees invoice issuance.

The price for legalization of the documents which is required to obtain the 'Certificate of Equivalence', obligatory for all international students, in Rosobrnadzor (Department of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation) is 6500 Russian rubles (which is equivalent to approximately 100 US dollars). All the activities concerning the preparation of the documentation package required to obtain the equivalence certificate and the equivalence procedure itself are undertaken by the student himself/herself at their own expense.

The above-mentioned fees for tuition, accommodation in student hostel, life and health insurance are valid only for 2017/2018 academic year.

During the initial registration procedure the candidate pays a enrollment fee of 300 USD which covers the charges for the issuance of the invitation letter for studies, sending its original and other documents to the candidate's country of the permanent residence by express mail (DHL), meeting the candidate at the international airport in Moscow, transfer to the domestic airport/train station in Moscow, meeting at the airport/train station of Rostov-on-Don and accompanying to the University, drawing up documents for admission to University for studies, registration fee, etc. The above mentioned amount doesn't include the cost of the train ticket or airfare Moscow – Rostov-on-Don (the approximate cost of the train ticket destination Moscow – Rostov-on-Don is 250 USD, travel time – 35 hours; the approximate cost of airfare 300 USD, travel time – 3 hours).

Average food expenses are 300 USD per month. When first entering Russia, the candidate should have about 500 USD to buy some basic necessities and personal things (clothes, dishes, electrical equipment, etc.).
